Nagle College Year 10 students – Noah Goodman, Lily Seymour and Connor Graham – have been invited to participate in the Monash Scholars Program, offered by Monash University.
Nagle College is one of 133 schools in Australia participating in the Monash Scholars Program which is open to high achieving students in Year 10. Students accepted into the program are supported in a personal and academic capacity from Year 10 until they graduate in Year 12.
“When I heard my name was put forward to apply for the program, I was really grateful for the opportunity then later to hear that I was one of the few people that were selected to participate in the program, I felt honoured.” said Noah.
Lily, Connor, and Noah are expected to commit 20 hours each year to the program, by attending events that will be held each year until they graduate. Sessions in 2024 include team building, preparing for Year 11 and 12, and ‘what it takes to be a…' where they can meet with professionals from a specific discipline. Student can also have one-on-one phone calls with a Monash advisor at any time.
“Throughout my childhood I have always put thought towards studying architecture but never clearly known which career to take so having the privilege of being a part of this program has given me the opportunity to explore other pathways that may be of interest to me and I'm looking forward to that,” said Noah. “I feel like I will get exposer to Uni life and everything that comes with it which is great for preparing myself for the next big step in life. From my limited time in the program the diversity of people, places and course shows me that there is so much to look forward to,”
“We are very proud of these young people who have made successful applications to participate in the program,” said Mrs Gabrielle Costin, Acting Principal. “It will provide wonderful opportunities for personal and academic development and give them a taste of life at university.”
Nagle College congratulates Connor, Noah and Lily and hope they take advantage of every opportunity presented to them.
