Literacy Tutor

Nagle College is seeking a tutor to assist indigenous students requiring additional support. Role duties may include:

  • Reviewing classroom or curricula topics and assignments.
  • Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks.
  • Explain and help students understand key concepts, especially those learnt in the classroom.
  • Encourage students throughout the learning process.

The After School Tutor Program is an initiative of the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation to assist Victorian schools to support indigenous student learning . The program is designed to deliver additional targeted teaching support to students who have been identified to benefit from tutoring, with a focus on literacy.

Tutors must be either:

• Teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT); or
• Pre-service teachers working under the direct supervision of registered teachers; or
• Recently retired teachers with Permission to Teach (PTT) (Teacher Tutor) from VIT if their registrations are not current. For information regarding the application process
for PTT (Teacher Tutor), which must be initiated by the school, please visit VIT’s website.
